Join Symphonix in welcoming the San Francisco Symphony Music Director Designate, Esa-Pekka Salonen, as he guides the Orchestra in a unique program of music and the written word.
The evening begins with a work written after a suggestion by Salonen to Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Steven Stucky: the haunting, freely conceived Music for the Funeral of Queen Mary. The impressive soprano Julia Bullock then joins the stage to take us through the surrealist landscapes of Britten and Ravel. The program concludes with the charming Mother Goose orchestral suite by Ravel.
Also be sure not to miss Off-The-Podium: a post-concert Q&A opportunity for the audience to ask questions of Salonen and Bullock!
Stay tuned for details on where to meet your fellow Symphonix members for a pre-concert drink!
